2014 was to prove a more difficult year for Colvex. Despite excellent performances through the summer again including the Rickmansworth Festival and Watford Live!, progress was halted firstly when that autumn Gav suffered a painful back injury requiring surgery and then when Dave abruptly left Colvex owing to differences beyond the sphere of the band's control.
After several months of inaction the band finally resumed normal service when they were kindly invited to headline again at Watford Live! Having recruited session musician Sean Conran to step in on bass duties the new-look Colvex took to the stage again in July 2015. This was followed by a return to the studio to begin work on recording material for a new EP.
Work continued through the winter and it wasn’t until February 2016 before the band resurfaced to perform live again, firstly with a special – if overdue – #LobbyLive appearance at Watford Colosseum and then with a series of big summer shows including a début performance at the East Barnet Festival and an albeit very rainy return to Croxfest where, on this occasion, longtime friend Adam Hyde filled in on bass.
